Funeral Blues 葬礼蓝调

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum,
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

奥登是公认的现代诗坛名家，1907年出生在英国，1946年成为美国公民，也是著名的同性恋者。46岁时开始和18岁的诗人Chester Kallman相恋，1973年(66岁)奥登在维也纳死于心脏病，两年后Kallman(40岁)死于雅典。他为Chester Kallman写了很多爱情诗，Funeral Blues是其中一首。
此诗曾出现于迈克·尼威尔（Mike Newell）导演的电影《四个婚礼和一个葬礼》（Four Weddings and a Funeral）。
