Course Description:
This course aims to provide students with experience using techniques employed in synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry. Emphasis will be put on the synthesis, characterization and identification by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
Personal safety equipment such as lab coat, goggles and gloves will be provided.
Pre-requisite: CHEM3443 Organic Chemistry Lab or equivalent. Applicants must pass a basic organic chemistry course and have acquired laboratory techniques before enrolling into this course.
Class Day & Time: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00 – 18:00

课程描述：The HKU Graduate School, in collaboration with the Admissions and Academic Liaison Section of the Registry, will launch a series of residential laboratory exchange programme at HKU in this summer for undergraduate and research postgraduate students from universities in Mainland China and overseas.

Mathematical Laboratory and Modeling

Course Description:
This course introduces elementary mathematical modeling techniques. Also, a powerful and free software Scilab would be taught and used to study models in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology and Management.
Pre-requisite: High score in NCEE (Gaokao) math or in AP Calculus, or Good grade in IB Math (DP) or in GCE A-level Further/Pure math, or Equivalent. Applicants should provide a list of current courses and past exam result sheets or transcripts. 要求高考数学高分
Modern Physics近代物理

Course Description:
This course covers the foundation of modern physics. Both conceptual ideas and mathematical treatment in modern physics are emphasized.

Date: July 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31 and August 2, 3
Time: 14:00 – 17:45
Laboratory:
Date: July 25 and August 1
Time: 09:00 – 12:00 / 14:30 – 17:30 (Each student conducts a 3-hour-long experiment)
